The Town of Clinton, NJ measures 1.4 square miles and is home to about 2,719 residents.  It is located in central Hunterdon County on Exit 15 off Interstate 78.  The quaint village maintains an economic vitality and desirable quality of life.  A number of annual recreational events take place in Clinton, NJ including the Haunted Mill where the famous Red Mill Museum Village is decorated as a haunted village in October, a Holiday Parade with floats in December , a Rubber Ducky Race on the River sponsored by the Clinton Sunrise Rotary Club, where rubber ducks are sold and raced over Clinton's famous waterfalls.  

The Town of Clinton is home to a great deal of history, including two former mills that are located on either side of the South Branch of the Raritan River:  the Red Mill and the Stone Mill.  The Red Mill is a major showpiece of the Red Mill Museum Village, and the Stone Mill is home to the Hunterdon Museum of Art. 

The Town of Clinton officially was formed as its own town in 1865 although the town existed long before as a milling town.  After originally being known as Hunt's Mill, in 1829 it was named for DeWitt Clinton, a governor of New York who sponsored the Erie Canal.  During the Revolutionary War, Clinton was a Patriot-oriented town and is believed to have been the first town in New Jersey to organize a regiment of minutemen.

Clinton has one school, Clinton Public School, for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.  High school students attend the blue ribbon North Hunterdon High School in Clinton Township.
